Many of the negative reviews seem to focus on the "poor quality" of the sound or bass. As a regular music listener, let me say right off that the Sony DEJ815 CD Walkman sounds fine to me. You might have some complaints if you are some music or sound junkie who can discern the difference in a change of decibiles, but there is nothing overtly wrong with the sound.The most appealing feature of the DEJ815 is the g-protection. My DEJ815 has not skipped even once since I've purchased it. So comfortable am I with the player that I take it with me wherever I go without the slightest concern. The player is very compact and weighs very little, allowing me to put it in my backpack or even the pockets in my pants without weighing me down.
If you are looking for a portable CD player that's compact, lightweight, and sounds decent enough for everyday play, I highly recommend the DEJ815.

Buy it if you plan to use it occasionaly, because the "extra-long" battery life is a complete lie. It appears in the picture it is built all durable and everything, but it really is just a piece of aluminum or two. Sound quality is awesome, but the "hold" button is too easy to push and that makes me quite mad. I would buy this for around $80. Other than that, the CD Player is great!

I bought this off here about two weeks ago, and am amazed. I had been eyeing it for a while, and decided finally I'd buy it to replace my half working old one. So I ordered it. I got it a few days later, and I was extremely impressed. The sound is as good as it gets. The G Protection allows me to jog with it, and absolutely no skipping. Also, as an added bonus, the remote allows you to put the CD player in a backpack and you can change tracks, see what track you are on with the LCD Screen and even during the night with the backlighting. All the features are on the remote that you would find on the CD player itself.A few small problems. This thing drains batteries faster than many others. It comes with that optional battery case that you can plug into the side, but it still drains the batteries quickly. I found that if you turn off the feature of the LCD Screen lighting up every time you hit a button, you save a lot more battery time. Another small problem is the screen on the remote. The second day I got it, I scratched the screen inadvirtantly. It seems to get scuffed or scratched rather easily. It didn't make it hard to see the screen, but was very annoying. These problems, however, aren't important enough for me to go down to a four. It is just a great CD player.
